How to have a personal Quiet Time

Reading Bible

Determine the necessity of a Quiet Time

Decide that this is God's will for you. It's not important, but ESSENTIAL.

Determine the time of the Quiet Time

By far, the best time is in the early morning. (Mark 1:35)

Determine the place of your Quiet Time

Jesus withdrew to a lonely place, away, secluded. This is essential. Allow NO interruptions! Go to that same place -- it's your rendezvous with God.

Let the first few minutes be practicing God's presence

It may be only one or two minutes, but affirm He is there! (Psalm 46:10)

Read the Bible first, then pray

Pick a section of the New Testament and stay with it, reading it again and again every morning for two solid weeks, or maybe three. Colossians 3, Ephesians 4, John 15, Philippians 2, Galations 4, Luke 14, John 10, John 6 , Romans 8 , II Timothy 1, Titus 3 are just a few suggestions. Make notes, make lists, ask questions. Pray before you read for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation -- "Lord, speak to me through these words."

Your prayer time

A simple pattern for praying:
Be still for a few moments. Thank God for His presence.
Praise Him, adore Him, worship Him, even with a song.
Thanksgiving -- tell Him what you are grateful for and why.
Confession -- confess your sins to Him. Claim 1 John 1:9.
Pray for others: unsaved, burdened, sick, unknown (ask God to show you someone to pray for today who needs prayer).
Pray for your own needs: material, spiritual, physical, etc.

Take a few minutes to work on memorizing Scripture

This may come out of the passage you are reading.
